Meet Our Attorneys
Robert S. Payne graduated from the Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1999. After graduation, he became the Assistant Law Librarian at the J. Reuben Clark Law School in Provo, Utah where he worked from 1999 to 2002. At the same time he worked as a contract attorney focusing on business transactional work and commercial litigation. Payne was a Judicial Law Clerk in the Second Judicial District, Farmington Department for the State of Utah where he drafted rulings, jury instructions and memoranda, conducted research and review case files, and assisted judges in trial.
Before joining Lincoln Law, from 2003 to 2006, Payne was an Associate Attorney at Gunderson, Denton & Proffitt, P.C. in Mesa, Arizona where he worked on all aspects of civil litigation, employment law, and business transactional work. Payne joined Lincoln Law in February 2006 and focuses exclusively on personal and business bankruptcy cases.

Carl R. Gustafson graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2007. In 2005, he was a legal intern for Global Justice in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he drafted sections of human rights situation reports and submitted them to the United Nations and other international bodies. Additionally, he researched issues of international jurisdiction and enforcement of international treaties.
Gustafson opened the Lincoln Law California offices and focuses his practice exclusively on bankruptcy law in the East Bay.
